Pre-requisite: No prior experience is required, though some clay experience is helpful.

This hybrid lecture-style workshop will guide participants through the essentials of creating functional mug forms. During the first half, we’ll cover essential design elements such as balance, shape, space, and proportion, while brainstorming and sketching ideas for mug forms and handles. In the second half, artists will apply their knowledge to create and attach handles to their own mug forms, using techniques like pulling handles, coil building, or slab construction.

Participants may bring their own pre-trimmed mug form or purchase one for an additional $10.
